Intellect

Your friend has completed the Understand Myself personality assessment by Jordan B. Peterson. This assessment is based on the Big Five Aspects Scale, a personality model that measures traits across five factors. In turn, each of these factors is broken down into two aspects. Here they have shared their score for intellect.

Intellect is one of the two aspects of openness. Openness is the primary dimension of creativity and cultural engagement in the Big Five model of personality. The other aspect of openness is aesthetics.

This person is exceptionally high in intellect. Intellect reflects a person’s interest in abstract ideas, concepts, theories, and questions. Intellect, as an aspect of personality, measures a tendency to engage with the more abstract world of ideas. While it is related to IQ, it is not a measure of intelligence or mental ability and should not be understood as such.

Their score puts them at the 97th percentile for intellect. If they were one of 100 people in a room, they would be higher in intellect than 97 of them and lower in intellect than 2.

People who are high in intellect are interested in ideas and abstract concepts. They enjoy being confronted with novel information, even when it is complex. They are substantially more curious and exploratory than average, and frequently like to tackle and solve problems. They will actively engage in, seek out, and initiate issue-oriented discussions, and are likely to read, think about, and want to discuss idea-centered books (most frequently non-fiction). They are generally articulate and can formulate ideas clearly and quickly. They tend to have a wide vocabulary, and actively enjoy learning new things. People high in intellect will often find and generate novel, creative concepts, and voluntarily search for and adapt well to new experiences and situations.

Understand Myself

The Understand Myself assessment and report is based on the Big Five Aspects Scale, the scientific model that describes your personality through the (Big Five) factors and each of their two aspects.

Individual Report

The assessment only takes 15-20 minutes. Your resulting report will give you a comprehensive description of the factors and aspects of your own personality.

You will, for example, learn how agreeable you are relative to others, and how your Agreeableness breaks down into the aspects of Compassion and Politeness (deference to authority and social norms). You will also learn how these aspects of your personality influence how you act towards and react against the various people and situations you find yourself dealing with every day.
